Prayer Reflection Video - 7 April 2025
Caring for the carers: A reflection and prayer from Mary Ngatia - Community Pastor/Minister-In-Training at Broadmead Community Church in the Central Baptist Association.
Many of our churches now provide some sort of well-being activity – whether that be a café, or Kintsugi Hope, or similar. There is a desperate need for this in today’s society. Many people simply need to feel they belong to a community, to feel they are known and seen by those around them.
The pastoral heart for others is what drives many of us. However, this can have its downside. If we don’t look after ourselves, listening to the burdens of others can impact our own lives.
So today, I would like to pray for those of us involved in the care of others – whether that be within our churches, our communities, or both.
Father God, we pray over those of us involved in pastoral care.
We may hear many difficult things as we minister to those around us.
Today, I ask for your protection for us, that you may enable us to not only be kind to others but also be kind to ourselves.
Prompt us to take time out to rest and restore before it’s too late.
Provide us with the chance to do this.
Watch over us, and our families, so that we may continue to love and cherish, give time and a listening ear to those whom you love.
Amen
