Prayer Reflection Video - 27 January 2025
Glen Marshall, Co-Principal of Northern Baptist College, shares this week's prayer reflection.
At college this week I had the privilege once again to preach on Jesus’ sermon at Nazareth
‘The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
because he has anointed me
to bring good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives
and recovery of sight to the blind,
to let the oppressed go free,
to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour.’
I was reminded that as disciples of Jesus we will only ever be able to communicate this good news if continue to hear it ourselves.
If we are to
proclaim the gospel we must be
addressed by the gospel.
That’s what I’d like to pray about, please join me:
Our loving God we give thanks for the boundary busting gospel of Jesus
Open us up to the good news of your Kingdom that we might become gospel communities
-
Where women are free to embrace your call on their lives without hindrance or prejudice
-
Where the barriers faced by black and brown people are torn down once and for all
-
Where no one is excluded or marginalised because of their sexuality
-
Where children are safe, celebrated, and welcomed as guides to the Kingdom way
-
Where the poor are enriched and empowered
-
Where we learn what it means to tend your creation
This we pray for the good of our world and the glory of your name.
