Prayer Reflection Video - 3 February 2025

Joth Hunt, Regional Team Leader for the South Eastern Baptist Association, prays for fruitfulness.

One of the lines in Paul’s wonderful prayer to the Colossians is that he prays that they will be fruitful in all their works. He doesn’t ask that they will be successful, but that they will be fruitful.

I’ve got an apple tree in my garden, and my dear apple tree has not produced a huge amount of fruit over the last couple of years. And yet it sits outside my office, and I can see it from my office window, and it’s a reminder to me to pray for fruitfulness, particularly for our churches. And of course we are really grateful to Lord for the fruitfulness of many of our churches across our nation. But also, there are many of our churches that perhaps are not seeing the fruit that they would love to see.

So my prayer, alongside Paul, for all our churches, but also for all our ministers wherever they minister – not that they would be successful, but they would be fruitful in all that they do. And so I pray in the name of Jesus that we will see the wonderful fruit of the Kingdom of God in our own lives but in the lives of the community of God - the people who gather around Jesus, his church – this year. Amen
