New Leader at YBA
February 2012
A significant moment in the life of the Baptists in Yorkshire and the wider denomination took place on Saturday, with the induction of the Revd Graham Ensor as regional minister/team leader of the Yorkshire Baptist Association (YBA)
Mr Ensor was previously the minister at Guiseley Baptist Church, where he had served since 2004. He had also chaired the YBA’s executive, and succeeds the Revd Ernie Whalley, who had led the Association since 1998 and officially stepped down this month.
In a joyous service at South Parade Baptist Church in Leeds the Revd Jonathan Edwards, general secretary of the Baptist Union of Great Britain, invited Mr Ensor to make a series of promises.
People had travelled from across the country, including the Revd Andrew Green of Upton Vale Baptist Church in Torquay, who preached the sermon. Mr Ensor had spent five years at the church in the 1990s.
‘Saturday was a fantastic day of celebration as we stood with Graham in his induction’, said the Revd Jane Day, the YBA regional minister for mission
‘I am really looking forward to working with Graham as we seek to work together in encouraging the churches of Yorkshire in mission and ministry.’
This was the second induction of an Association team leader this year: the Revd Geoff Andrews was inducted to the role at the London Baptist Association in January.
