Stop and Pray for Yorkshire - SPY
The Yorkshire Baptist Association (YBA) is inviting members of the Baptist family to join in seeking God together in prayer over the 50 days between Easter Sunday to Pentecost Sunday.
Regional minister Nike Adebajo explains why she is encouraging people to sign up to SPY
God is at work in our region and among our YBA family of churches in big and small ways. Yet our needs and those of our members and the communities we live in are great.
We are acutely aware of the need to partner with God in prayer as we seek to see a major shift in our own lives and devotion to God, growth and health of our churches and the people we meet for whom Jesus died.
“So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive His mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.” (Hebrews 4:16 NLT)
Partnership in Prayer
This is an invitation to all members of our Baptist family to join us in seeking God together in prayer over the 50 days between Easter Sunday to Pentecost Sunday - 9 April to 28 May.
You are invited to STOP and PRAY for YORKSHIRE – SPY over lunchtime, (or other meal times) every single day.
There is something powerful in knowing that our sisters and brothers are doing the same thing at about the same time.
"The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results." (James 5:16 NLT).
When you sign up for SPY you will:
-
Receive daily prayer points in a short email each morning with a suggestion of a topic or theme to pray over.
-
Be invited to share what you prayed and any encouragement that you received as you prayed or pondered - or anything you prayed that you thought was significant. You can do this by email to nike.adebajo@yba.org.uk

Some general prayer topics for each day of the week
Sunday - Come and see Pray for the needs of your church and minister. Pray also that any unbelief regarding what God can do, will go and faith will grow. Pray for another (Baptist) church by name.
Monday – Thanksgiving, praise and worship (Psalm 100: 4) Thank God for what He’s doing in your life, church, neighbourhood, etc. Worship Him for who He is. Resist the temptation to tag on a request. Use a hymn or worship song if that’s helpful.
Tuesday - Love the Lord your God with your all (Matt 22: 37) Pray about your own relationship with God, that you might grow in your love for Him, desire for His presence and obedience to Him.
Wednesday - Love your neighbour as yourself (Mark 12: 31) Pray that you might be an example of God’s love to the people among whom He has placed you, in your family, church, neighbourhood, etc.
Thursday – All those in authority (1 Tim 2: 2) in schools, colleges, hospital, town halls, city councils, etc. Pray for wisdom and insight for them in the exercise of their roles and duties.
Friday – Salvation - God wants everyone to be saved (1 Tim 2: 4) Pray that we will see many people come to follow Jesus in Yorkshire.
Saturday – Go and be witnesses (Acts 1: 8) That we might simply bear witness of what Jesus has done for us, to those we know and meet. That we might do this in the power of the Holy Spirit and in both deed and word.
