Prayer Reflection Video - 29 April
A new command
Verses:
John 13: 34-35
A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.
Reflection
One of the very best sermons I ever heard preached was in my last Church from John Chapter 13. Sandwiched between Jesus telling of Judas's impending betrayal and Peter's impending denial he gives the disciples a new commandment: he says “Love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another”.
The preacher that day in church said this, "What was the very first thing that Jesus told his followers to do after telling them that he was going to die? He told them to love each other. It's that important", the preacher said. It's that important. It's the first thing he tells them to do, and he says it again in John chapter 15 - and this time I'm reading from
The Message translation – “This is my command. Love one another the way I have loved you. This is a very best way to love put your life on the line for your friends. You are my friends if you do the things that I command you.”
It's that important.
It's that simple.
It's that profound.
