Prayer Reflection Video - 25 March

God's sharp word

Verse: Hebrews 4:12
For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

Reflection

Many moons ago at a Baptist Assembly I went to the wrong seminar. How did I know it was the wrong seminar?  Because there was an Imam sitting at the top table. Never would I believe that he would have a word from God for us.

He said to us that he was invited to an interview with the Archbishop of Canterbury by a newspaper. So, he decided to read the New Testament and as he read it, he found the book was really powerful and that it was a book that spoke of love. He did the interview with the Archbishop of Canterbury and the reporter said, ‘You sound more Christian than the Archbishop of Canterbury!’ (It wasn't Justin Welby by the way).

Can you imagine how God spoke to us through an Imam telling us that we should read our book more? - and he was right!

Let us pray
Heavenly Father,
Thank you for the book that you've given us.
Thank you for the words of guidance that we find in the Old Testament and the New Testament.
Help us to reflect that the word of God is sharper than any two-edged sword.
Help us to reflect that the word of God is active and alive
And help us to reflect that you speak to us through your word.
We ask that we would find time to read it more
In Jesus' name
Amen
