Jesus welcomed little children - and so do we

Laird Street Baptist Church in Birkenhead had a fantastic day today on Sunday 17 August, with a packed morning service followed by our latest Messy Church, writes Cathy Buntin

The morning service was packed out as we welcomed a family with their new born baby for a dedication service, looking at the theme What's in a name?

Then in the afternoon we had a fantastic Messy Church welcoming our usual group of amazing children who had a fabulous time together.

The theme was the wise and foolish man. Vic our 91 year old managed to build a train track around a rocky area with a sandy river running through the centre and washed away a wooden house built on the sand.

The children added to the project their painted wooden houses with a small person inside. This all added to the story time which Vic told using his puppet.

One of the children celebrated their 11th birthday and asked to sing a solo. He was amazing and sang us a beautiful worship song. He is not connected to a church but has attended every Messy Church. Lovely to see God at work in their young lives.

It was so encouraging to see the children chatting as they shared in craft making of fishes, mask making, boxes to put their marshmallows dipped in chocolate, colouring  painting and decorating wooden houses and face painting.

What a privilege to serve God in this way and sowing seeds in these young lives. I love my job and we all worked together as a team.

Jesus welcomed little children and so do we. The children are looking forward to our next Messy Church and so are we.
