Where You Go, I Will Go - new study on the book of Ruth
What does it mean to walk with someone from poverty and desperation, to a place of hope?
A new contemplative study resource written by Baptist minister Keith Parr and his wife Karen encourages readers to consider just that.
Where You Go, I Will Go is a 40-day series of Bible studies, reflections and prayers on the book of Ruth. In the Bible Ruth helps her mother-in-law, Naomi, find protection after their husbands die. Ruth is subsequently mentioned in the genealogy of Jesus in the Gospel of Matthew.
As well as being a rich contemplative and study resource, Where You Go, I Will Go also incorporates true stories of the challenges faced by real children around the world. All money raised through the sale of the book will support the work of charity Global Care, which works with vulnerable children in disadvantaged communities.
'We have been linked to this amazing charity for 25 years - I am currently a trustee,' explained Keith.
'We offered to write something long before we had heard of Coronavirus, but the first lockdown gave us the time to finish the task.
'Each study is linked to a child Global Care works with so people can learn, reflect and pray for that child and the work the charity does.'
Karen and Keith have been married for 30 years, serving the church for 27 years in cathedrals and charities, most recently in Baptist churches in Coventry (Queens Road Baptist Church) and Liverpool (Maghull Baptist Church).
Where You Go, I Will Go has been commended by Mark Greene, London Institute of Contemporary Christianity Mission Champion, author, and speaker.
He said, 'Focusing on the themes of poverty and displacement in Ruth, this is a sobering, heartening, rich blend of biblical reflection, moving stories of restoration, helpful prayers and personal application to life in the West.'
