Mission. Marriage. An end of year update from Lynn and the Core Leadership Team
The following message was sent to all our ministers and churches on 8 December 2022
Greetings to you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
I am getting in touch with you now because I want to follow up on my June letter about mission and marriage and keep you in the loop on these issues.
Since I wrote to you in the summer, our conversations about our Ministerial rules regarding marriage and sexuality have been continuing. I recognise that for some of you this isn’t a live issue in your context and that is fine. For those of you who do want an update, I am going to tell you what has been happening recently.
This time I have recorded my message and I encourage you to watch it here:

In addition, I am aware that some are asking if the consultation is going to adopt a referendum style.
Council in October were clear this would
not be the approach. Council were mindful they need to respond to the question that has been asked, yet were also wanting to gain an understanding of the missional and pastoral impact of their decision and all this within a reasonable time frame. Finally, and as I say at the end of my message:
-
Please keep praying!
-
Philippians reminds us, 'Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.'
-
Please keep sharing Jesus and making disciples as we keep mission at the heart of our movement.
-
Please keep pursuing Christlikeness and the fruit of the Spirit.
-
Please make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace in your church, cluster, association, college, across Baptists Together, and indeed with the whole Church.
-
And as you do these things, may you know the presence and blessing of the Lord this Advent.
Lynn Green
General Secretary
On behalf of the CLT
We have been asked about the roles and composition of various groups so here are links that will take you to more information that will hopefully answer any questions you have.
