NBA role for Hayley Young
The Northern Baptist Association (NBA) has announced it has called the Revd Hayley Young to the role of Transitional Strategic Leader (Regional Minister) from 1 September this year
The decision was taken at the NBA Assembly last Saturday (24 April) with overwhelming support by those present. She joins Paul Revill as the other Regional Minister (Mission Enabler).
Hayley comes with over 14 years experience in church leadership, growing churches, multi-denominational contexts and mission/leadership support.
She trained at Spurgeon's College, London, and is currently a Regional Minister at the South Wales Baptist Association.
In a statement, the NBA said, 'Hayley has a passion for seeing churches released to fulfil all that God has called to them. She is a gifted preacher and teacher, speaking at various conferences and ministry events as well as TV interviews.
'Hayley is a people person and is able to relate to all ages inviting people to think about their relationship with God through open and honest conversations.'
Announcing the news on Facebook, Hayley, who will become President of the Baptist Union of Great Britain in 2022-23, wrote, 'It is with mixed emotions that I share this news as I will miss being part of the team here in South Wales, I have enjoyed being part of what God is doing in this area.
'However I believe God is calling me on, to work with the NBA to place mission and pioneering at the core of association life as it enters into the next phase to best serve the churches for the future.'
In a video message to the NBA, she added, 'She said, 'It's a real privilege to be called to this role.
'This is a big task and it won't be without its challenges but I am confident that as we listen to each other and listen to God we will hear what the Spirit is saying.
'I have an amazing passion for all people of all generations to come to know Jesus in his transforming power and glory, to come under the lordship of Him in our lives individually and corporately. I've been in churches where I've seen first hand the impact that this has. I've also been in Association life, seeing how to resource that from a different level. I'm excited to come and share with you in this role.
'I'm looking forward to learning from you as you learn from me, to walking alongside you to listening and hearing and seeing God's kingdom grow amongst our Baptist family in the north.'
The Revd John Claydon leaves his role as NBA Regional Minister Team Leader this year. Writing in the latest NBA newsletter, he said, 'It has been a great privilege to serve God in this Association and there have been many blessings along the way, although I confess that there have also been a few challenges as well.
'I have been blessed to have developed many friendships across the Association and beyond, and we have all been blessed to have had such good and encouraging people serve within the Association team and in other roles in the Association.
'We all move into a new chapter and yet the author remains the same; Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever. Trusting in Him and walking in step with the Spirit we encounter the new things that God has for us with confidence, anticipation and trust.'
