How to PrayHow to pray: a simple guide for normal people
By Pete Greig
Hodder and Stoughton
ISBN: 978 1 529 37492 6
Reviewer: Jeannie Kendall

This book is a real gem. Pete is honest enough to say that even he (who as founder of 24/7 most of us might be in awe of) is a learner in prayer too. Based around a simple acronym of the word pray – pause, rejoice, ask, yield – and drawing on the Lord’s prayer, he examines different kinds of prayer, as well as addressing complex issues such as unanswered prayer and spiritual warfare.

He also gives examples from the lives of people of prayer ranging from the Desert fathers and mothers to Joni Eareckson Tada and across the continents. He writes both engagingly and accessibly. It is a book you want to carry on reading, though it merits taking time.

It is also a book that makes you want to pray…. No better accolade that that, I suspect.
