David Pile
Since October 2014 I have been the minister at Basford Road Baptist Church in Nottingham. In addition to regular leading and preaching at Sunday services, and leading various meetings, I have led three Christianity Explored courses including one in Farsi with the help of a translator. These courses, alongside other ministries from within the church have led to baptisms, 7 of which were last year. I also initiated the launch of a job club within our weekly community café which is still running nearly 4 years later. I regularly participate in the local Baptist ministers’ gatherings, East Midland Baptist Association Days and the annual ministers conference. For the last couple of years I have been part of the leadership team of Nottingham City Prayer, an ecumenical prayer movement that meets monthly to pray for the church and people of Nottingham.
Prior to this I was the Olympic and Paralympic Church Engagement Coordinator for the London Baptist Association (LBA), which meant I was highly engaged in denominational life, speaking at various gatherings and seeking to inspire ministers and churches to make the most of the opportunities presented to us by the 2012 Games. I was a member of the LBA Mission Strategy Forum and represented the Baptist family on the ‘More Than Gold’ executive, which was the senior steering group for the ecumenical response to the 2012 Games.
