Little fish: baptism at Warley
There was a real sense of joy and excitement on Sunday 13 May as during our monthly all age family service - Warley Welcome Sunday, we baptised Sam
Sam's journey started when she came to enroll her son in pre-school and discovered that we ran a Thursday morning stay and play toddler group - Little Fish. She enrolled her son in pre-school for next September in take but start coming along to Little Fish straight away. She talks about an immediate feeling of being loved and cared for and being accepted for who she is.
When her son moved on to pre-school, Sam joined the volunteer team which runs Little Fish. She become more involved and in Jan 2018 she moved her dance school into the church as well.
Her journey of discovering she was loved by God reached the significant point of needing to show that she was a follower of Jesus on Easter Sunday when our worship leader, Emily challenged the church that there where people in the congregation for whom God was nudging them to make this declaration.
After conversations questions and discussion Sam stepped into the baptismal waters on Sunday to be baptised.
She was baptised by our minister Peter and assisted by Carrie the team leader of Little Fish. Peter gave Sam a verse which he sensed was significant for her which was, Proverbs 31:25, She is strong and graceful, as well as cheerful about the future.
The significance of the words where increased when she was given a prayer journal as a present by Carrie and the same verse was on the front.
We feel that the vital work of toddler groups is often overlooked in church life, but viewed properly they are a significant and important way to show people they are loved by God.
We look forward to seeing more Little Fish parents discover God's love and we are excited by what God will do through Sam's life.
