Christmas is coming - fast!

Yes Christmas is coming fast. But for Shane Prosser the manager of the Co-operative Bank in the Kingsway, Swansea, ‘fast’ is taking on a rather different meaning

Foodbank223The Co-operative bank has made the East Side Food Bank at Bonymaen its charity for December. Shane is taking on the foodbank challenge this week and living on a typical emergency food package.

Baptist minister the Revd Chris Lewis, who chairs East Side Food Bank, a registered charity set up by the local community, is impressed. He said, 'We are immensely grateful to Shane and the team at the Co-op Bank for their support; the need for the service has grown over the year and half plus we’ve been open.

'Foodbank packages are unavoidably a bit basic but I hope Shane will come out of the experience maybe feeling a little leaner than usual but ready well-deserved Christmas treats.'

This Christmas, East Side Food Bank team is planning to add as many Christmas items to the basic emergency packages as they can. Things like chocolate and Christmas Puddings are needed but the basics, non-perishable foods, along with soap, toiletries, and toothpaste are always needed.

The East Side Food Bank’s Facebook page gives all the information and is regularly updated with shortages and the latest news.
