Reflections on the 2014 Assembly
Just wanted to say thanks so much to the team for your work and inspiration and vision for these children and young people - our son loved every minute of the weekend and its a real joy to be able to bring him to the Assembly knowing that he will get as much out of it as we do, even at the tender age of 5! He constantly amazes us both with the things he says about God and I pray that more of our churches will grasp the vision of children's ministry that you do :) God bless you.
Liz Tyler

Thanks Liz for your comment, its always a real privilege to work amongst the children at BA and amen to your prayer!

Where the sacred and scary meet
Very interesting piece. I too am an accredited Baptist Minister and my background before I became a Christian was occult involvement. Since conversion I've had real-life horror moments in terms of deliverance ministry (both personal and for others). Hmmm... don't quite know where I stand on your approach :) But thanks for the stimulus.

Philippians 4:8?
8 Finally,
brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest,
whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever
things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any
virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
Peter Sammons

Good point, but may I make a suggestion on the verse you mention...
'Whatever things are true and honest': Death, fear and pain are an undeniable part of human experience and so to ignore them and focus on the positive constantly would be to deal in half truths. The Bible itself certainly seems to spend time on both sides.

The Daily Mail and Following Jesus
Someone needs to address the issue of addiction to the TV too. Christians really should severely moderate their use of this "oracle" as it is mostly used to undermine our lives in the Spirit. For example, 'how can it be right to look at the things which are wrong to do?'

We need God time, not me time
Do you know Michel Quoist's prayer about time? 60 years old but still very relevant!

Thanks Andrew, I didn't know of that but it certainly is relevant for today.
