The Revd Ronald (Ron) P.M.Marr: 1932–2024

Former Baptist minister, production editor and secretary of the Publications Committee at The Baptist Times

The Revd Ronald (Ron) P.M.MarrIt is with great sadness that we announce the passing of the Revd Ron Marr who died on Tuesday 15 October in Creggan Bahn Nursing Home, Ayr after a few years with dementia. He was 92.

He was born in July 1932 in Fife, Scotland. After his training in Glasgow, he took up his first pastorate with his wife Jean in Rosyth.

From there, he travelled south to England to Leigh Park Baptist Church in Portsmouth (1965) and then onto Lymington Baptist Church (1966-1972).

He joined The Baptist Times at their offices in High Holborn, London in 1972 (pictured) and became the production editor and secretary of the Publications Committee.

In 1982 he became education and promotions secretary for the charity Feed the Minds, an inter-church organisation promoting Christian literature and education overseas.

After retiring, he returned to his native Scotland and opened a Christian book and gift shop using his Christian and literacy knowledge to the full.

He lived a rich and fulfilling life, even when he had retired from the ministry he continued to preach and be active within church life.

He was a much loved husband, father and grandfather and will be fondly missed and remembered by all his family.
