This area of our website contains a number of posts, contributed by members of the Baptist Union Disability Justice Group, and others. The purpose of these posts is to help churches, pastors and anyone else who wants to think more deeply about disability from the point of view of Christian faith and church practice. Many churches have excellent inclusion statements and a real desire to get to grips with what those statements say. The point of these posts is to provide some Christian theological and wider resources to help make those statements a living reality for all of us. We believe that disability, in all its wide variety, should be part of the conversation of the whole church. These posts are therefore not confined to any one aspect of disability, but aim to be as widely relevant as possible.

Under the 'Discussion resources' tab below you will find a series of posts. Each follows a similar format - it considers a particular issue or experience of disability, church and faith, or a particular occurrence of disability in the Bible, then provides some questions to consider. These could be used individually, or perhaps in a group setting.

Under the 'Broader material' tab we have included things you might like to explore more widely, including longer theological articles about God and disability, testimonies and reviews of books on the subject. This whole venture is a work in progress. The first posts cover some general questions about disability and God and explore some specific incidents in the Bible. We hope to continue to add to what is here and we hope you find it thought-provoking and useful.
