Missing Generation Nominated in New Media Awards

The nominations for the latest Christian New Media Awards have been announced - and feature a number of Baptists

The Missing Generation - a website created by the Younger Leaders' Forum of the Baptist Union of Great Britain - is among six to have been nominated for the best Christian blog.

The website features posts and conversations from the YLF, designed to create awareness of the lack of 18 - 30 year olds (The Missing Generation) in Baptist churches. The website is also promoting the YLF's first major event - Missing - on October 13.

Missing Generation has tough competition: it is up against the likes of Threads, the new Evangelical Alliance initiative that features the writings of Christians from all walks of life, God and Politics in the UK and Emma Scrivener.

Elsewhere South Woodham Evangelical Church - a member of the Baptist Union of Great Britain - is one of five to be nominated in the Best Large Church Website category.

Caversham Baptist Church is the Accessibility award category.

The Light Project - the charity founded by current BUGB president the Revd Chris Duffett - has been nominated in the People's Choice section.
Baptist minister the Revd Richard Littledale is in the microblogging section. Richard creatively uses Twitter: earlier this year he created a sermon about Mary by asking for contributions from others on the web.

Overall there are 14 categories, which highlight the extensive way in which churches, Christian organisations and individuals are currently and increasingly using new media.

The winners and runners-up will be announced at the awards ceremony on Friday 19 October at Skinner's Hall, London.
