Matt Redman wins two Grammys

Matt Redman wins two Grammys 1

Christian worship leader Matt Redman picked up two awards at the 55th Grammys in Los Angeles on Sunday

'I've always loved Psalm 103 and how the writer lists all of these brilliant reasons why his heart is full of worship for God: he heals our diseases, redeems our lives from the pit, crowns us with love and compassion, etc. So in the verses of this song we try and make a little list of our own-noting of course that we're hardly even scratching the surface of God's worth-there are "10,000 Reasons" for our hearts to find. With anyone or anything else, that would be an outrageous overstatement. With Jesus, it is a huge understatement.'

Christian worship leader Matt Redman picked up two awards at the 55th Grammys in Los Angeles on Sunday.
The singer/songwriter won Best Gospel/Christian Contemporary Christian Music Performance and Best Contemporary Christian Music Song for 10,000
Reasons (Bless The Lord).

In the latter category he tied with Israel Houghton and Micah Massey, writers of Your Presence is Heaven.
Matt wrote 10,000 Reasons with Jonas Myrin (pictured, above right), and it is based on the opening of Psalm 103. It came from his eighth album 10,000 Reasons, released in July 2011.

Writing on Twitter following the award Matt said, ‘We wrote this song for the glory of God, so He gets all the glory today too :)'
Jonas added, ‘Truly got 10,000 reasons and more to celebrate and be thankful for tonight. Thank You for all your love from around the world tonight. So encouraged and touched. Still in shock. Think I'll realize what really happened today in a couple of days.’

Congratulatory messages flooded in for the pair, including several from fellow worship leaders.
Noel Robinson, who led worship at the 2012 Baptist Assembly, wrote on Twitter, ‘So pleased that @matt_redman and @jonasmyrin won a Grammy tonight for 10,000 reason! Songs that inspire the church to worship!’

Chris Tomlin ‏said, ‘Could not be happier for @matt_redman and @jonasmyrin for the Grammy for 10,000 Reasons...Yes!’.
Martin Smith, the front man of Delirious? said, ‘Very proud of my brothers Matt and Jonas for winning the Grammys. By far the most loved congregational God song of 2012. An amazing journey.’

Tim Hughes added, ‘Well done @matt_redman and @jonasmyrin - fantastic news re the Grammy's!! What a great encouragement!’
Baptist pastor and the author of The Purpose Driven Life Rick Warren wrote, ‘I am so proud of you Matt!’
Other winners included hip artist Lecrae (Best Gospel album for Gravity) and Toby Mac (Best Contemporary Christian Music Album for Eye On It).
