Dr Selina Stone, Lecturer in Theology and Ethics at the
University of Edinburgh, for an inspiring evening of theological reflection, justice-seeking, and liberative learning. Her lecture will explore how theology can either bind or break us - and how we might reclaim theological education as a tool of spiritual and social transformation.
This year’s event is hosted in partnership with the
University of East London.

Dr Selina Stone is Lecturer in Theology and Ethics at the School of Divinity at the University of Edinburgh. She is the author of Tarry Awhile: Wisdom from Black Spirituality for People of Faith (2023) and The Spirit and the Body: Towards a Womanist Pentecostal Social Justice Ethic (2023) along with many papers and book chapters. Her research includes the themes of black/womanist ethics; the Spirit and spirituality; power, abuse and liberation; and healing and wellbeing.
Prior to joining the University of Edinburgh, she worked at Durham University on decolonisation and theological education with a focus on ministry training. Her PhD is from the University of Birmingham (2021) and her MA in Theology and Politics is from King's College London (2014). Dr Stone is a member of the National Executive Committee for the Society for the Study of the Theology. She is a podcaster, preacher, and sought after voice across sectors, in the academy, faith organisations and charities. She is a proud Brummie, with Jamaican roots.
