Sponsor Ukrainians Fleeing the War

The Government has a scheme that enables individuals, churches, businesses and charities to welcome Ukrainians into homes across the UK. The Baptist Union would encourage member churches to stand with the people of Ukraine during this time of huge distress, anxiety and dislocation. 
 
If you or your church are interested in sponsoring Ukrainian those needing sanctuary from the ware in Ukraine we would encourage you to read more about the scheme here.
 
If you have specific questions that relate to the use of your church properties, please direct these to your Baptist Trust Corporation. However, we have answered some of the key legal and governance points you will need to consider in this Appendix (updated 21 April 2022).

Once you have decided you would like to explore options further, we would encourage you to consider one of the following routes.

1	If you know the names and location of the Ukrainians you would like to sponsor, it will be possible for you to apply directly through a Government website – you can register your interest here. Those you would like to sponsor will be able to fill in a visa application online. This is the fastest and most efficient way for you to bring those you would like to sponsor to the UK as soon as possible.
2	If you do not have a particular person/people in mind, we would encourage you contact Citizens UK. We have experience of working with Citizens UK and their partners USPUK in Ukraine, and commend them to our churches. Click here to find out more.
