Launch of the Baptists Together Communications chat and support Facebook Group

A new private Facebook group is launched to support communications across Baptists Together. National Communications Manager Mike Lowe explains more

Comms group

We’re all communicators and the Gospel is about communication, but that doesn’t make it easy. I know the challenges local churches have with internal and external communications. Our regional teams and the national communications team have similar difficulties to overcome. Part of this is because we all work very contextually, meaning time to listen and engage with communications beyond this requires effort.

There is then the issue of an ever-changing digital communication landscape, meaning so much noise is generated and for those creating communications - which tools are best? What do we need to learn to effectively get important messages across?

For these reasons and more, I’ve been discerning with friends across Baptists Together ways in which we can support each other in communications. One idea which has come to fruition, and I’m now pleased to announce is a new Baptists Together Communications Chat and Support Group on Facebook.

There are several excellent communication support groups for Christians already in existence, but none specifically for those part of Baptists Together and one where developing relationship with each other locally, regionally, and nationally will be the aim.

Members from several of the regional teams along with myself and the national communications team have joined ready for this wider launch. I’m looking forward to seeing where people are at, how we can support each other and develop relationships which blesses those involved and ultimately helps us be effective in our communication of the Gospel.

Digital Missioner and Comms Advisor Hannah Fleming Hill, who works with SWBA, EMBA, the national communications team and churches across the UK, has joined the group. She says, 'It's really exciting to be a part of this group. My work allows me to work with a number of churches and Associations across the Baptist Union but very often my work is quite isolating.

'I'm sure this group will allow me to connect with lots of teams doing comms, serving in their local church, charities, in Associations or in the numerous other ways that digital, technology and social media can be used in sharing the gospel in the 21st century.'

Please request to join the group here. On doing so you will be asked a few qualifying questions and then a member of the admin team will review.
