Baptist Historical Society new online initiative: “Uncovering Baptist stories”

The Baptist Historical Society has taken a key initiative to engage in online webinars during 2020 themed “Uncovering Baptist Stories”

Baptist Historical Society logThe initiative is a response to a suggestion from Baptist Union General Secretary, the Revd Lynn Green, encouraging the Society to make available to a wider general audience something of the research and reflection in which Society members are engaged.

The original plan was to hold three regional days in the autumn, but Covid-19 has caused the Committee of the BHS to re-think their approach.

Having successfully held a Committee meeting online and then the Annual General meeting enabling people to participate from a wide range of locations, BHS President, the Revd Dr Keith G Jones, commented, 'We believe the time has come to respond to Lynn’s challenge.

'We can’t follow our original plan, but it is clear to us that using available technology we can offer webinars online inviting people to engage with a series of key themes we believe are important to contemporary baptistic Christians as we seek to learn from our past and adapt to our present ways of being and doing church and mission.'

A small action team is working on the format and the Society expects to advertise dates, themes and contributors in the near future.
