'Songs to bring hope to a broken world'

Two worship leaders at a Baptist church have offered their new songs for use in streamed services

WHISPER-FINAL-spotify-700x700Luke Wareham and Rachel Mason from Clevedon Baptist Church in Somerset have just released their first five track studio EP Whisper.

All of the songs – including Shadows and Whisper - are available as lyric videos on Youtube. Provided a church has a CCLI licence, it can use them in a streamed service.

Luke and Rachel’s prayer has always been that these songs will bring hope to a broken world, speaking prophetically the truth of Jesus into everyday life situations.

‘Our hope is that the songs help people in everyday life to worship Jesus,’ says Luke. ‘In this current challenging climate, the word needs this kind of hope!

Shadows and Whisper are good songs for the current challenge, both in terms of what people are facing personally, and what the world is facing.

‘We’ve been singing them at Clevedon Baptist Church for a few months. The lyric videos worked well for online streaming over the past week, so we are delighted to offer them to churches for their streamed services.’

Shadows is a song that proclaims the victory of Jesus and that we can hold on to Jesus who never gives up on us. The hope of the cross takes away all fear as the light of Jesus shines through the darkness in our lives.

Luke wrote Whisper while reflecting on 1 Kings. He believes that ‘even when the enemy seems loud in our lives, even when we are filled with panic and doubt, a whisper from God changes everything.’

‘Our true freedom comes from Jesus breaking through into our lives and his perfect plan for us worked out because of the cross,’ he explains. ‘God revealed himself in a whisper to Elijah because he was so close and he whispers in our life situations because he is so close, within whispering distance, and never leaves us. He is already working it out.'

Luke and Rachel pray that the songs on the five track EP will 'help people to have a sense of wonder and love from God that will help them get through everyday life and to fix their eyes on Jesus.'

Luke says that when writing the EP, he reflected on a quote by John Ortberg which says ‘I need to worship because without it I lose the sense of wonder and gratitude and plod through life with blinkers on’.

The EP Whisper is available to stream and download on all music platforms including Apple and Spotify.

Luke and Rachel's YouTube channel has their lyric videos. The chords to the songs are available to download via SongSelect.
