A Safe Haven
Stockton Baptist Church - Offering a loving welcome to asylum seekers and refugees in Stockton on Tees.
We recognise the call to welcome the stranger and to show the compassion of Christ to all we meet. Over recent years many of our churches have been blessed by friends from other countries and cultures who have found a home with them. Churches have responded with openness, welcome and care, especially to those who are refugees and asylum seekers. Churches have not only welcomed people to services and events, but provided opportunities for friendship, support, help with the asylum application process and even teaching English, etc. Thanks to Ian Britton, the Northern Baptist Association has created a video of the work of Stockton Baptist Church as they engage in this ministry, but recognise that they are not the only church doing this and celebrate and commend all those who have worked hard to welcome those God has placed amongst us.
The video is being released in time for Refugee Week which is from 19 - 25 June 2017. You may want to use the video in a service or other occasion during that week or at another suitable time. Please pray for those seeking a new life in this country, the work of those offering support and give thanks that many have found new life Christ and pray that many more will come to know him. There are two versions of the video: one 7 minutes long and the other 14 minutes long:
