Outreach Opportunities for Churches Around New George Lucas Film
New resources have been produced for churches wanting to engage with their communities around the latest George Lucas film
Red Tails tells the true story of America's first African-American squadron of fighter pilots, fighting Nazi enemies, prejudiced allies and, in the case of one of their number, his own doubts about God. It opened in British cinemas last week, and its executive producer was George Lucas of Star Wars fame.
It features Academy Award winner Cuba Gooding Jr, and Spooks actor David Oyelowo. The latter is the squadron's spiritual cynic, but undergoes something of a journey.
The Damaris Trust, an educational charity with a Christian foundation, has teamed up with Momentum Pictures to provide resources based on the film for churches to use in their ongoing outreach.
They include a number of downloadable clips from the film, along with suggestions for how they can be used to illustrate important spiritual themes as part of an outreach service.
'Red Tails is an inspiring story about an amazing journey,' said Nick Pollard, co-founder of the Damaris Trust.
'Damaris' resources will help churches to engage with their communities and challenge them to make spiritual journeys of their own.'
