New Bible Resource for People with Learning Difficulties to Get Greenbelt Launch

A new Bible story themed resource pack for people with learning difficulties is being launched at next week's Greenbelt Festival

New Bible resource for people
The Open Praise Project, created by Katie Love who attends Holland Road Baptist Church in Brighton, contains content for six Bible story sessions, including pictures of Christian Sign Language, craft and warm up activities and guidance.

The pack also includes an easy to read book of Bible stories with simple images above the story to aid understanding, a CD with detailed session plans, risk assessments and craft templates and craft material for use in the sessions, including felt and foam sheets to be cut out.

A limited run of 100 copies has been made, 40 of which have been sent for free to organisations and groups for people with learning disabilities. Packs will be available for sale at Greenbelt Festival at Cheltenham Racecourse from 24 to 27 August.

Ms Love began running a session for people with learning disabilities at her church in November 2011 using sensory tools such as foam, bubbles and music to tell well known Bible stories. Funding from the church and a grant from Greenbelt Trust has allowed Katie to turn the project into a book that other churches and groups can use.

'I am passionate about inclusive and creative worship,' says Katie.

'Open Praise Project aims to inspire churches to be more accessible to the needs of people with learning disabilities through simple messages and creative worship.'
