Coronavirus resources for children, young people and families


Many organisations and churches are providing additional resources for families and churches to use at this time.  Please follow the links below to find out more about some of the information and resources we are aware of:

ERC GRAPHIC Emotional Rollercoaster
Transforming Lives for Good (TLG) has created the Emotional Rollercoaster resource supporting children and young people through Covid, and training has been offered across our Associations.

Youth for Christ have created a new resource to help families grow in their confidence in doing faith together at home, whether they are families that might usually go to church or those that are exploring for the first time.
ToddlerTime Toddler Time
West Mersea Free Church has created an episode for toddlers each week, with story, craft and song time on their YouTube channel.

Calling all Popstars!  Welcome to the brand new iSing Pop Show.  Join us every Friday at 11.30am for a show packed full of energy, laughter and dancing.  In the first episode, we are exploring the wonders of the amazing word joy.

During a period of self-isolation, Baptist minister Richard Littledale wrote this child-friendly book about social distancing.

IsolationInspiration Isolation Inspiration!
Alongside fellow writers, Dom Conlon, Mo O'Hara and Chitra Soundar, Margaret Bateson-Hill has been writing a series of poems inspired by our reflections on life in lockdown.  It's available as a free download pdf which can be shared with your family and friends.   Have a look at Margaret's website and send her your poems, stories  and illustrations.

Have a variety of resources perfect for parents to connect with during this time, including; daily social media inspiration, video activities, conversations and teachings on YouTube and their blog for parents.

A series of 30-day study courses to increase your knowledge and understanding of individual books of the Bible for church groups of all ages.

For older children and young people, Youth for Christ are directly addressing the concerns under 18s have with free video resources for ‘Fear and anxiety around the Coronavirus’ aimed at 7-11s and 11-18s.

Are posting daily ‘engage at home’ suggestions for children and their families to creatively partake in worship and prayer together. They can be accessed via their website or through their social media accounts.  These are simple, fun ways to increase conversation about God.

Spring Harvest have had to cancel their gatherings, so are instead inviting you to join them with virtual all-age opportunities with ‘Spring Harvest at Home’ with the theme ‘Unleashed - The Acts Church Today.’  The video link gives further information and has all the links for the different ways to join in with this great opportunity from 13-17 April 2020.

For the next few weeks, Mindful Schools will be offering free live mindfulness classes for children. These might be helpful anchors to give the day some routine and structure.

Has looked to see how they can support children to continue singing at home during this  challenging time.  They have made all of their MP3 downloads free, for a limited time.
SameBoat Out of the Ark and Same Boat Music
Have created an @ HOME section to their website that offers further FREE songs and resources!  They are releasing seven songs, one for each day, all with challenges and activities related to each song, and will continue to add songs and resources over the next few weeks.
PrayerSpaces Prayer Spaces
In response to the Coronavirus pandemic, Prayer Spaces has produced a series of five COVID-19 prayer activities that pupils can do at home, either on their own or with their families.
KidsMatter Kids Matter: Parenting support
Kids Matter's team of skilled psychologists and community workers have developed new resources for families and parents, tailored to provide specific support in the challenges to come.
 
KidsMatter Kids Matter: Facilitator support
Kids Matter wants to be adaptable and flexible as they support churches and community partners in whatever way they can. Their blogs are full of ways to support the vulnerable families in our communities.
 
ParentingForFaith Parenting for Faith
Based on the book Parenting Children for a Life of Faith, the Parenting for Faith course is a free video-based resource for communities. It's normally run in a church or home group, but can be used by individuals as well.
GoingForGrowth Going for Growth
Faith isn't something to be learned in church - it's to be lived out at home. But it isn't always easy for families to know how to pray together or tell the stories of Jesus together.  This page offers links and ideas to help families be Christian in their whole lives, not just the Sunday bit!
Mainly+Music+logo Mainly Music are creating footage that families can use in their home and for people who might be unsure how to resource Mother & Toddler groups.
LittlePackOfHope Little Pack of Hope
In these difficult and uncertain times, World Vision remains committed to supporting churches and has created this simple and easy to use resource for church leaders to share with their communities.
