Phil Barnard
Since June 2016, I've been Team Leader for the London Baptist Association. Prior to that, I spent ten years as Pastor of Mitcham Lane Baptist Church in Streatham: a vibrant church with many community projects and significant ecumenical links. After eight years in retail management, I went to train at London Bible College in 1997 and, following graduation, spent my first six years in pastoral ministry at Hertford Baptist Church in the Central Baptist Association.
My ongoing passion is for the church to engage in a broad range of missional initiatives and for members to be well discipled. I long to see the UK church equipped to minister in its very different 21st century setting - in other words - ‘from the margins’. My background has given me relevant skills in strategy, communications, management and clear thinking which I seek to employ across my ministry.
I grew up in Sutton and Cheam and have always seen myself as a Londoner and love the city. I am married to Jen who currently works for the Diocese of London in their youth and children’s department. We have three children: Ellie, Edward and Ernest and continue to reside in Tooting. Music has always been a big part of my life and I currently play in a band, Cajun Tigers. I also enjoy cycling, reading fiction, gadgetry and travel.
