Children, Young People and Families
Children and young people are an important part of our Baptist communities and of our shared
participation in the mission of God. As we continue to reflect on the proposed Shared Understanding of Mission, we want to encourage churches to include children, young people and families in that conversation.
This resource has been produced to help churches explore the themes of the Mission Resolution with children and young people in creative and accessible ways.

A note about the wording in this resource
This resource was originally produced in relation to the first draft of the Mission Resolution presented at Baptist Assembly 2025. It therefore includes a young person friendly paraphrase based on that original wording.
The proposed Shared Understanding of Mission has since been substantially shortened and revised. However, the paraphrase and activities within this resource continue to reflect the meaning and spirit of the latest draft and provide a helpful way of exploring its themes with children and young people.

A Shared Understanding of Mission – September 2026
Abiding in God, and participating in His mission, we as Baptists bear witness to Jesus Christ, empowered by the Holy Spirit, through words and actions:
By Proclaiming Christ, inviting people to repentance and faith, to be baptised and to follow Him as lifelong disciples;
By being Present Among people and nurturing Christian communities;
By Practising Compassion towards our neighbours;
By Pursing Justice, peace and the flourishing of creation.
