Support Services Update - May 2021
This month we’ve decided to focus our mailing entirely on our online Baptist Assembly which is happening this week. Assembly has not been done like this before so it’s a new adventure for us all and the team would value your prayers that it runs smoothly.
The event will be kicking off with In Memoriam at 7pm on Thursday evening which will commemorate those who have died since Assembly 2019. After Worship on Friday evening at 7pm and a programme of seminars on Saturday, Assembly will culminate in Sunday Worship at 10.30am which we hope will be an opportunity for tens of thousands of Baptists from across the country to join together in worship. We’re aiming for the largest Baptist worship event in living memory! Please do take a look at the Assembly website for more details of what’s going on and to find links to join every session.
In advance of the BUGB AGM session at 9.30am on Saturday morning, we have published the 2020 Annual Report of the Baptist Union of Great Britain, the legal body behind Baptists Together. All ministers, treasurers and secretaries within our member churches should already have received a hard copy of our Annual Review document, which is a shorter version of the Annual Report without the detailed financial statements.
The Assembly comes at an interesting moment immediately before the next step in our return to normality as both England and Wales plan to reduce restrictions on 17 May. We hope the Assembly and in particular our keynote speaker Shane Claiborne will challenge us to look forward to a future for our churches that might look very different after the pandemic (Isaiah 43:18-19). However, it is also a moment to look back on 2020 and celebrate God’s goodness to us (Isaiah 46:9).
We look forward to you joining us this weekend.
Yours in Christ
