Furlough grant levels change from beginning of July

28 June 2021

If you are currently making furlough grant claims in relation to church ministers or staff, a quick reminder that the employer contributions are changing for July, August and September.

From 1 July 2021, the government will pay 70% of wages up to a maximum cap of £2,187.50 for the hours the employee is on furlough.

Employers will top up employees’ wages to make sure they receive 80% of wages (up to £2,500) in total for the hours the employee is on furlough. The caps are proportional to the hours not worked. Employers retain responsibility to pay national insurance and pension contributions. In August and September 2021, the government will pay 60% and employers 20%.

Claims for furlough days in June 2021 must be made by 14 July 2021. The government’s job retention scheme will finish at the end of September 2021.
