Core Leadership Team Encourages Petition Signing

Dear Friends

Over the last few months there has been an awakening to the continuing discrimination and racism that people of colour face in many parts of society.  Consequently, a group of black church leaders were challenged to look at ways of showing solidarity with the reality of injustice experienced in our communities.  Whilst declaring in no uncertain terms that justice and equality applies to all people no matter their colour, this group is attentive to opportunities for solidarity with and the encouragement of structural change for people of colour.

The steering group for the gathering of black ministers recognises the need to petition the government to implement the recommendations of several reviews into the treatment of people of colour in our nation.  As such a petition already exists, it is not possible to establish a new petition and therefore we would like to draw this to your attention and ask you to support it by adding your name and sharing it with others.

We continue to call our churches to prayer and action as we seek God’s kingdom in this country and across the world; holding a vision of a just, right and enduring peace (shalom) between all peoples.

Yours in Christ
