Karl B Johnson has been an accredited minister of the Jamaica Baptist Union (JBU) since 1992 when he was ordained to the Christian Ministry in Ulster Spring, Trelawny. Mr Johnson currently serves as the General Secretary of the JBU, a position he has held since 2001.
He commenced his pastoral ministry in 1990 as pastor of the Ulster Spring Circuit of Baptist Churches in Trelawny, after which he served in the pastorate of the Calvary Circuit of Baptist Churches, St James, from 1995 to 2001.
Mr Johnson is a 1990 graduate of the United Theological College of the West Indies (UTCWI) and is a much sought after preacher/teacher nationally and internationally. He is known as a public theologian who is a passionate nationalist and regionalist and whose views on topical issues are sought regularly.
He is also a committed ecumenist who has served, and continues so to do, a number of institutions (globally and locally) in different capacities.
His service extends beyond the church and religious circles and is called upon to give leadership in many spheres of Jamaica’s life.
Karl is married to Yvette and they have three sons Nicholas, Joel and Nathan.
