BUGB launches search for best church website
January 2008
The Baptist Union of Great Britain (BUGB) has launched the first BUGB Web Awards to find the best church website in the Union.
People can nominate their church or others on the Baptist Union website until 12 February. In March the first round of voting will commence on the website to choose the best church website per regional Baptist association. Then over the week of the Baptist Assembly in May, the thirteen finalists (one for each association) will be voted on to find the best church website. The winner will be announced at the Baptist Assembly.
Amanda Allchorn, Head of Communications, believes the awards are a fun way to get churches thinking about their own websites. "Increasingly people are looking on church websites before making a decision to visit. By championing the best local websites in the denomination we can inspire churches to consider how they can make their websites more effective."
As well as the awards, over the coming months, BUGB web designer Matt Corry will be sharing top tips on all aspects of creating and maintaining a website. For more information on the awards go to www.baptist.org.uk/webawards.
