Charitable Incorporated Organisation
Tuesday 21 November 2017
1030 - 1530
Bloomsbury Central Baptist Church, London
Cost: £50 per person, including lunch
This event has been arranged jointly by the London Baptist Association (LBA) and the Baptist Union Legal and Operations team.
This is an opportunity to find out more about the new legal structure for charities known as the ‘Charitable Incorporated Organisation’ or CIO for short. It will be of interest to charity trustees who are considering the options for the legal structure of their church and also to those considering the CIO as an option for a community project such as a pre-school or coffee shop.
The day will include input from BUGB Legal Services Manager Caroline Sanderson and Esther Campsall from Anthony Collins LLP. Topics that will be covered include:
Baptist church governance and charity registration
Why change your legal structure?
The difference between a charitable company and a CIO
The process of incorporation as a CIO.
There will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions!
This event is open to any interested Baptist church, whether or not they are in membership with LBA. The places are initially limited to two per church, but we will create a waiting list for additional places to be made available later if there are unfilled spaces.
Bookings close on Friday 10 November 2017.
Please note we are planning to run a similar day in Sheffield in the near future. Information will be on our website once dates and venues have been finalised.
If you are unable to attend this event but would like further information on this topic please refer to BUC guideline leaflet C11 Churches, Charities and Incorporation.
